Nice idea. One of the barriers to entry for standard play tournaments is the requirement to commit a weekend for most tournaments. I’d like to introduce my son to standard play but a whole weekend is logistically impractical so we generally just play rapid. I know you can just play a couple of games in a weekend tournament and get various half-point byes but my son wants to win so he’s not so motivated by that.
Why FIDE rated again? I resent paying Silver ECF membership for congresses, but you would have to drag me kicking and screaming with a shotgun to my head to get me to fork out for Gold or Platinum membership. Under new management, my local Congress is going to be FIDE rated, so a no-go.
I do have a FIDE ENG rating, but that was acquired many years ago.
Make it ECF Rated only, then I would consider entering, however it is quite impossible for me to get to the venue by 10.30 am. I know a lot of people live in London, probably more than you need, but I am not one of them. As it is only 2 games could you not start this at 11.30a.m. and finish at 6.00?
Last time I looked the cost of a standard play weekend event before Covid was about £35 or £7 per game. Not sure your pricing at £15 per game is warranted? Where did that figure spring from, bearing in mind the nature of the tournament, up to 40 games as you say, would be a total entry cost of £30x20=£600??? Then of course, for me anyway, add at least £25 return travel to the venue per day. That takes my costs pretty close to £1000 to enter and play those 40 games!
Apart from that, any additional opportunities to play chess competitively are to be welcomed.

Interesting initiative. I like that it’s FIDE rated but the cost/game is much higher than at a 5 game Swiss. What about a double ticket entry of 4 games at a cost of £40? I agree with other poster’s point on the start time.
Brilliant idea!

Thanks Adam
I played for the first time at Clissold Arms yesterday.
Although I didn't win my games it was an enjoyable and useful learning experience.
