You have some great events to choose from, depending on your personal preferences. It’s not too late to book!
If you like team chess, the 4NCL (Four Nations Chess League) is on all weekend in Daventry, but you need to squeeze your way into a team first! www.4ncl.co.uk is the site to browse, and you can watch lots of games live online!
More live games (top 4 boards) and practice for players who like a longer time control, play five FIDE and ECF rated games at the Mill Hill Congress (for players rated Under 2400, U1900 and U1700). Saturday and Sunday, but you can take up to two half point byes if you have to miss games. Check out Rob Hammond’s site at https://www.chessville.co.uk/coming-up/ for a link to the entry form. Easy parking on site and public transport right outside…
If you have just one day to spare, I also recommend the Docklands (Poplar) Rapidplay on Saturday 22nd October. Six games in a day! Norman Went and his team will look after you! https://www.englishchess.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/DCRP2022.pdf
As usual you can find details of all chess tournaments in England here, at the English Chess Federation’s website - https://www.englishchess.org.uk/event-calendar/ and you can also check chessengland.com for my own calendar.
As a parent I need to know these things at least 3 months in advance so I can bribe people to provide childcare.
all you need to do is check my calemndar at www.chessengland.com, as I publish dates up to 1 year in advance!
