Tired of playing chess online? Come to our Central London FIDE and ECF Rapid Chess, FORMAT - Open, Under 1700 and Under 1450 swiss tournaments, 6 rounds, 20 mins each plus 5 seconds a move.

All participants must be current English Chess Federation members at Silver or above, including titled players. Our next date is Sunday 21st May 2023. A 6-round FIDE & ECF rated rapid in sections played in a Zone 1, Central London location right behind High Street Kensington Underground.

Time control is 20 minutes per player PLUS 5 seconds added to the clock for each move.

Entry fee for all events is £32.00 paid in advance plus £10.00 for anyone not an ECF Silver member or above. Payment on the day is £35.00 for all plus £10.00 if you are not Silver or above. If you are UKR registered then please claim your FREE English Chess federation membership!

The events is held in the Breakfast Room of the Holiday Inn Hotel, Kensington. Just walk through the lobby to find the playing area. Round 1 starts at 12.30pm and the event finishes at approximately 6.30pm. Parking is available on the street but read the notices carefully and do not park on resident’s bays.

The prizes in the Open are £200, £100, £50 plus a rating prize of £50. The prizes in the Major Under 1700 and Minor Under 1450 section are £100, £50 and a rating prize of £50. Cash prizes will be shared.

  • If you are a parent or sibling, or you have finished your game you are kindly requested to leave the playing area and use the lobby of the Holiday Inn.

  • Do not leave personal items unattended or they will be removed by the hotel security! Likewise do not leave children unattended for the same reason…

  • Free entry to Grandmasters and International Masters (choose “pay on the day” but note that you must always be a member of the ECF at Silver or above)

  • If you want to play in the Major or Minor then your ECF and FIDE ratings have to be below the line in both lists. We may have to move you between sections based on your most up to date rating.

  • We take entry registrations online, and you can then pay by bank transfer or pay on the day. We have the option to pay by PayPal and pay by card on the day.

  • COVID policy: Face coverings are optional
