Dear Friends
Thanks for your support over the past 18 months and for coming out to play over the board chess over the last month, both at Golders Green on 10th and 17th July and at various tournaments at my place in Hendon!
We have had two very successful rapid events at Golders Green so far (thanks to Rob Hammond for his invaluable assistance at both), and we look forward to many more! As usual we will be using Swiss Manager to run the event and publishing all the pairings and results LIVE on https://chess-results.com/fed.aspx?lan=1&fed=ENG
In August we will return to the usual format of swiss tournaments, rather than all-play-alls. There are pros (theoretically you play people of your rating band) and cons (people don't turn up or drop out) to this but the idea is to SLOWLY return to the usual format of several sections over the next year if it is permitted.
For the moment we will have one section for all, with limited numbers, and reintroduce refreshments in the small hall. We will have cash prizes and as usual all the games will be ECF and FIDE rated. When we are allowed to have more players and it is safe to do so, we will add sections.
We will start at the same time of 11am and, FOR AUGUST AT LEAST, using a slightly shorter time control of 20 minutes each plus 5 seconds a move, we hope to get 6 rounds in before 5pm!
I hope you will give it a go and help us gradually return to events with several sections over the next year.
I have plans for standard events in the spirit of Hampstead Congress, more announcements to follow. Question: would you play in a three round swiss tournament at Golders Green at 60+30s a game (up to 3hrs for each game, so a long day) if you could be guaranteed three games against players roughly your rating or above? Leave your comments below!

Sounds good to me
