FIDE Weekenders at the London Mindsports Centre

Next event: 03-05/Jan/2025 - four sections!

We are excited to welcome players in the new year to our FIDE Weekenders at the London Mindsports Centre (21 Dalling Rd, London W6 0JD), starting in the first weekend of January!

Our 2025 events are on the following weekends:

• Next event: 03-05/Jan/2025

• 14-16/Feb/2025

• 14-16/Mar/2025

• 30/May-01/Jun/2025

FIDE & ECF Rated Sections with Prize Money

We will have several sections:

• Open

• U2000

• U1650

• U1400 (My First Tournament – please note this is only on the Saturday and Sunday with different start times, see the section in this email entitled "My First Tournament (U1400) Section")

Each tournament is 5 rounds, Swiss format (not a knockout).

The Open, U2000 and U1650 sections feature prize money as follows:

Open: 1st £200, 2nd £150, 3rd £100

U2000 & U1650: 1st £150, 2nd £100, 3rd £70

Rating prizes may be introduced at the event's discretion depending on the number of entries.

Round 1 on Friday 18.30 (6.30pm to 10.30pm)
Round 2 & 3 on Saturday 10.00 and 15.00 (10.00am to 2:00pm and 3.00pm to 7:00pm)
Round 4 & 5 on Sunday 10.00 and 15.00 (10.00am to 2:00pm and 3.00pm to 7:00pm)

Time control: (90min + 30 sec/move)

Byes: Players may take up to 2 half-point Byes in any round except the final round, where you can take a zero point bye.

My First Tournament (U1400) Section

We are also running a My First Tournament section for unrated players or players rated under ECF 1400. This section will also be across 5 rounds, but over Saturday and Sunday only:

Three rounds on Saturday (10.30am, 1.30pm and 4.30pm).

Two on Sunday (11am and 2.00pm).

Time control: (60min + 30 sec/move)

This will primarily be suited for beginners or players who would like to become more comfortable in a tournament environment but would like to build their confidence. This could be suited to juniors and adults alike who are either new to the game or less experienced with competitive / tournament play.
