The Northampton University Chess Tournament is a FIDE-rated event, meaning that your performance will be officially recognized by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). This presents an excellent chance to improve your FIDE rating and boost your chess credentials. Whether you're a grandmaster or a seasoned player looking to enhance your ranking, this tournament provides a platform for you to excel.
Open to most Levels:
The Northampton University Chess Tournament welcomes players of most levels, from beginners to experienced competitors. Whether you're just starting or have years of experience, this tournament provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for you to enjoy the game of chess
Nestled in the heart of England, Northampton University stands as a beacon of chess in the East midlands. Recently hosting several successful Rapidplay events and now a full 2 day chess congress on the 27th and 28th of January.
Facilities:
The university's creative hub features spacious playing areas, comfortable seating, and high-quality chess boards and pieces. Hotel on site. £1 all day parking and other hotel venues within a 5 minute walk. We're also located on the canal's doorstep, so youre welcome to bring your narrowboat too!
