So, this week we have several events taking place. Tomorrow 5th October (and also 12th October) I am running the small but perfectly formed Muswell Hill FIDE rapid at The Clissold Arms from 10.30am to 5pm. It’s a Tuesday but we still attract a good crowd to a lovely venue, and there’s a lunch break to take advantage of the good food they serve. Hope to see you there tomorrow!

Then on Saturday 9th October (and 23rd October) we have the bi-monthly Golders Green FIDE rapid with maximum 100 players, from 11am to 5pm. Rob Hammond will be helping me as usual and we will be joined on the control team by Jo Wildman and Satish Gaekwad. Food and drink will be available all day.

Note that I have changed the time control for the rapid events to 20 minutes per player per game plus 5 seconds a move. This seems to be popular as it means you don’t have to spend so much time in the venue.
Are you anxiously awaiting the return of Hampstead Congress?
Unfortunately it looks like that venue may not be available for a while (and it was a bit cramped at the best of times) so we have booked a venue in Mill Hill, London NW7 for our Under 2200 for 27 and 28 November, but basically the same format! All three sections are FIDE rated now and English players have to be Gold or Platinum to take part.
No membership needed for the return of the Hendon Chess Club FIDE Blitz, on Thursday 14th October, 6 rounds of 10 minute chess from 7.30pm to 10.00pm at a new venue, with space for just 30 players (socially distanced) so book this soon.

Central London Congress @ Imperial College Union is brewing, but nothing definite yet. Bookmark 12-14 November just in case…
