Under the new global style Southend Easter Chess Festival
the 3rd Southend Rapid (6 rounds)
and the
65th Southend Easter Chess Congress (7 rounds)
take place from
Thursday 6 April 2023 (Rapid and Masters event only) to Bank Holiday Monday 10th April 2023,
at Southend Adult Community College, Ambleside Drive, Southend, SS1 2UN - close to Southend East station (c2c line) and with a large car park on site.
The Rapid on 6th April comprises six rounds of G25+5, Round 1 at 10.30 am, finished by 6.00 pm. Three sections: Open, U1700, U1400.
The 65th Congress comprises four sections each of 7-Rounds (not many of those left in the UK!) at 90 minutes per player PLUS 30 seconds added per move, two rounds a day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, last round Monday morning.

Guaranteed minimum Prize Fund for the Festival of £3,000 which may be increased depending on finances.
Simplified Entry Fees structure: one fee for all sections of the Rapid (£30) and one for all sections of the Congress (£45), with 10% discount coupons for Seniors (60+) and Juniors (U16 at 31 August 2022).
